Senior Technical Writer

Boston, MA/Burlington, VT

The ESD Technical Writer is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of IDXtend functional documentation, including application reference manuals, online help, web-based materials, and internal support documents. The Technical Writer will work with Technical Project Leads, Software Designers, Software Engineers, Quality Assurance Analysts, Customer Support staff, and other members of the Documentation Group to fill the informational needs of IDXtend audiences. The ESD Technical Writer will be assigned as the Documentation Contact for one or more Development Teams. As the Documentation Contact person, the Technical Writer will be responsible for performing a documentation needs analysis for that team and reporting back to the Documentation Group on his/her findings. The documentation needs of each Development Group will then be prioritized and projects will be determined on a quarterly basis. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can assess the informational needs for their assigned product area and provide the appropriate documentation solution. The Technical Writer will be responsible for developing solution-oriented documentation that focuses on business needs and process flows in addition to feature/function materials. The Technical Writer will also be working with the entire Documentation Group on developing web-based documentation for the IDXtend product line.

The following are desirable: experience in Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, graphic tools such as Paint Shop Pro, online help tools such as Doc-to-help, RoboHelp, etc.


Qualifications include 3+ years experience writing end user oriented software documentation. Experience in project management, healthcare industry, HTML Help, and MS-HTML Workshop is a plus.

A Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Technical Writing, or related field.
