Program Title
STACIES Awards Presentation and Monthly Program

Description
The February program features both an awards presentation and a guest speaker.

Awards Presentation
STACIES stands for STC Technical Achievement in Communicating Information. It is the collective name for awards given to winners of the annual STC Boston/Northern New England Online Communication, Technical Art, and Technical Publications Competitions.

The Oscar, Tony, and Emmy awards are awarded annually in recognition of outstanding achievement in their respective professions. They represent the highest honor bestowed on performers by their peers. In the same way, we hope the STACIES will bring to mind the same standard of excellence and peer recognition in Technical Communication.

Don't miss the opportunity to be on hand for the announcement of the Best of Show winners for Technical Publications and Online Communications, and to acknowledge all of the award winners.

Speaker
Our February speaker is Ena Arel of The MathWorks who will give a great presentation on Creating Documentation Your Users Will Love. She describes the top 10 things users need from documentation and presents a repeatable process that you can use to incorporate these user needs into your design. Ena is a former STACIES award winner, and this presentation received rave reviews when given previously.

Ena is a Principal Writer and Information Architect at The MathWorks. She is currently leading company efforts to standardize and enhance the documentation on the Web across their large family of products. Ena enjoys working closely with writers to help make their documentation more useful to customers. She received the 2007–8 Award of Distinction in the Technical Publications Competition for the software guide Getting Started with System Identification Toolbox.
